Christmas dining is arriving at The Black Bear! From Friday 27th November, our Christmas menu will be available alongside our usual menu, giving you even more choice when it comes to eating out over the festive season.
Whether you're planning a Christmas get-together, catching up with family and friends or simply fancy something seasonal, we'd love to welcome you.

Christmas Wreath Making
~ Saturday 5th December | 3pm - 6pm & Tuesday 8th December 6pm-9pm
Get into the Christmas spirit with a festive wreath-making workshop, hosted by Gena from Emerald Floral.
Join us upstairs for a creative session making your own beautiful Christmas wreath, using seasonal greenery and festive touches to create something special to take home and enjoy throughout the season.
Your ticket includes a glass of fizz and a selection of nibbles, making it a lovely way to spend time with friends, get creative and enjoy a little Christmas cheer.
£60 per person. Spaces are limited, so booking in advance is essential.

Courtyard Carols
~Monday 14th December | From 6pm
Join us for a festive evening of traditional Christmas carols, warming mulled wine and plenty of seasonal cheer!
We'll be gathering in the courtyard beneath the twinkling lights, with Whitchurch Brass Band leading us in some much-loved Christmas carols. Dig out your best, brightest or fluffiest bobble hat, too, as we'll be holding a Best Bobble Hat Competition!
In the spirit of giving, we'll also be collecting donations for our local foodbank. If you're able to bring along a tin or packet, it would be very much appreciated.
Our outdoor bar will be serving warming drinks throughout the evening, so wrap up warm, bring your friends and join us for a lovely evening of Christmas cheer.
Christmas Day Drinks
~ Friday 25th December | 12pm–2pm
Fancy getting out of the house for a little while on Christmas Day? Pop into The Black Bear for a festive drink and a catch-up with friends, family and familiar faces.
We'll be opening our doors for drinks, giving you the perfect excuse to stretch your legs, take a break from the festivities at home and raise a glass with your favourite people.
Whether you're joining us for a quick one or staying for a good old natter, we'd love to see you.
Festive Dog Walk
~ Monday 28th December
Give your four-legged friends a festive outing with our Christmas Dog Walk!
We'll meet at 10:30am for a complimentary bacon bap and a tea or coffee before setting off at 11am for a relaxed one-hour walk, led by Rebecca from Sophsdram.
We'll aim to return to The Black Bear around 12–12:30pm, just in time to reward yourself with a well-earned drink.
Festive jumpers are very much encouraged for both humans and hounds, so dig out your best Christmas knitwear and join us for a lovely morning of fresh air, wagging tails and festive fun.

New Year's Eve
~Thursday 31st December
We’re keeping things relaxed this New Year’s Eve, but that doesn’t mean it won’t feel special. Our chefs will be putting their creative flair into a seasonal menu full of delicious dishes to enjoy as we see out the year, and the bar will be open late for those wanting to toast to 2027 with good company and great drinks. Expect a cosy, friendly atmosphere, a little sparkle behind the bar, and that unmistakable Black Bear charm as we welcome in the new year together.
